MBBS Admission Process in India (Private Medical Colleges)

1. Eligibility Criteria
  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 (PCB - Physics, Chemistry, Biology) with English as a subject.

  • Minimum aggregate marks required:

    • General Category: 50%

    • SC/ST/OBC: 40%

    • PwD Candidates: 45%

  • Age requirement: Minimum 17 years at the time of admission.

2. Entrance Exam Requirement (Mandatory for All Colleges)
  • NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is the only entrance exam for MBBS admissions in India.

  • Private medical colleges do not conduct separate entrance exams.

  • Candidates must qualify for NEET with the required cutoff marks.

3. Application & Counseling Process
  • Register for NEET Counseling:

    • MCC (Medical Counseling Committee) for Deemed Universities.

    • State-Level Counseling for private medical colleges in respective states.

  • Fill out choices for preferred colleges and lock them.

4. Seat Allotment & Admission
  • Seats are allocated based on NEET rank, preferences, and category.

  • Candidates must report to the allotted college, complete document verification, and pay admission fees.

5. Management & NRI Quota Admission (For Direct Admission)
  • Some private medical colleges offer management quota seats, where admissions are based on NEET qualification but at higher fees.

  • NRI quota seats are available for international students or candidates with NRI sponsorship.

6. Final Enrollment & Course Commencement
  • After fee payment and verification, students receive their admission confirmation.

  • MBBS course duration: 5.5 years (including 1-year internship).
